Mission

Purpose

The Community Counseling Clinic is designed to perform two purposes: provide a professional clinical training laboratory for Master's level students at 缅北禁地, East Bay and to provide counseling services that contribute to the mental health and welfare of individuals in the community.

Availability

Our Clinic is open to individuals who seek help on their own accord and those referred through schools, churches, community, or social service agencies. Persons for whom our clinic cannot provide help are referred to other sources appropriate to their needs. Our Clinic does not offer medical services and does not serve 缅北禁地, East Bay students. Counseling services are provided by graduate trainees whose study prepares them for licensure as Marriage and Family Therapists. These trainees are advanced graduate students with strong backgrounds in both theory and practice. All graduate trainees work under the close supervision of licensed supervisors and professors within the Department of Educational Psychology at 缅北禁地, East Bay.

Counseling and Psychotherapy Services

Counseling and psychotherapy are provided for children, adolescents, and adults, and when counselors are available with appropriate training, for couples and families. Counseling services may be sought for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress management
  • Depression
  • Educational concerns
  • Parenting concerns
  • Communication issues
  • Self-knowledge and growth
  • Assertiveness difficulties

Careful consideration is given to the requests of each person and per the training needs of the students. Each individual will be assigned to a graduate student trainee. Parents will be involved in the process of helping with the problems of a child or adolescent.

Counseling for Children

We see many children of different ages in our Clinic who benefit from having a safe place to explore family, school, and personal issues. When the Clinic is open for in-person services, play therapy rooms are available for use, with paints, toys, doll houses, board games, and other therapeutic tools which can be helpful to children in working through important feelings and concerns.

The Clinic's marriage and family therapy trainees (MFTTs) are trained in children’s mental health and counseling, along with parent and teacher consultation and collaboration. The CCC emphasizes a systems, family, and strength-based approach.

Confidentiality

All client information is protected. The content of sessions between client and counselor will not be released outside our clinic without the written consent of the client except where specific disclosure is mandated by law. Clients are informed about confidentiality and its limitations during the first session.
