Vinmathi IyappanVinmathi Iyappan, a standout student in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, has already made remarkable strides in her academic and professional journey. Having joined the program in Fall 2023, she exemplifies a blend of leadership, innovation, and a passion for using analytics to address pressing societal challenges.

As a Women in Leadership Associate Scholarship recipient, Vinmathi has demonstrated her commitment to breaking barriers and excelling in leadership roles. Her dedication to advancing her knowledge and skills is further evident through her professional experiences. Over the summer, she interned at Oakley, where she honed her analytical expertise in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. She is currently applying her talents at the California Department of Public Health, contributing to impactful projects that align with her passion for public service and data-driven solutions.

Vinmathi’s academic achievements are equally inspiring. She was awarded the OSCAR scholarship for her innovative research in text analytics, focusing on disability accommodations for people with epilepsy. Leveraging cutting-edge Large Language Model (LLM) based techniques, she pioneered a qualitative data analysis approach to help analyze concerns of people with epilepsy. The results of this research can help provide understanding and recommendations to improve accessibility and inclusivity for individuals with invisible disabilities.

Her dedication to using data for meaningful change extends beyond her scholarship. Vinmathi also presented her research on prescription drug expenditures at the CSU Student Research Symposium, where she showcased her ability to bridge analytics and real-world challenges. Her work not only reflects her technical skills but also her commitment to addressing critical issues in healthcare and public policy.

When she’s not immersed in academic and professional pursuits, Vinmathi enjoys gardening, finding joy and creativity in nurturing plants. One of her side passion projects combines this love for gardening with her analytical expertise: building AI tools to assist with urban gardening. By integrating technology and sustainability, she aspires to empower urban communities to grow their own food more efficiently and sustainably.

Kyle McGonigleKyle McGonigle is a standout student in the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) program, where his technical proficiency and passion for impactful data analysis truly stand out. Equipped with a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Information Management from the University of California, Santa Cruz, he brings a strong academic foundation that provides an excellent basis for his advanced studies in analytics.

Kyle brings a wealth of professional experience to his advanced studies, having worked as a Data Analyst at both Cirius Group and Kaiser Permanente. His drive to learn and strong performance led to his promotion to Senior Data Analyst at Kaiser Permanente—a role he achieved while actively pursuing his MSBA degree. Proficient in SQL, Python, Pandas, Business Analysis, and Data Analysis, Kyle combines technical expertise with practical experience. His proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI has enabled him to identify underlying trends and drivers, effectively communicating insights to address problems within healthcare.

Kyle's capstone project focuses on analyzing healthcare claims data to predict future total claim amounts. By applying predictive analytics and advanced data modeling techniques, he aims to uncover insights that can be used to assess risk and provide a forward-looking perspective on the level of care required. This kind of analysis can help healthcare providers allocate resources more efficiently, improve patient outcomes through proactive care management, and reduce costs to both patients and insurance companies.

Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Kyle enjoys snowboarding, watching local Bay Area sports teams, traveling, exploring national parks, and trying new taquerias. He has visited over 15 different taquerias in Hayward during his 3 semesters at CSUEB!

As Kyle prepares to graduate, he is excited to continue improving his skills and advancing his career in data analytics. He looks forward to opportunities that allow him to merge his healthcare experience with his advanced analytical abilities. From Analytics Enthusiast to Innovator in Business AI

Raghav GuptaMeet Raghav Gupta, a dedicated Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) candidate at 缅北禁地 - East Bay, set to graduate in December 2024. With over two years of professional experience in data analytics and engineering, Raghav has honed his ability to tackle complex data challenges, positioning himself as a future leader in the field.

During the summer of 2024, Raghav interned as a Business Advisor with the East Bay Small Business Development Center (SBDC). In this role, he leveraged his analytics expertise to assist local entrepreneurs in navigating business challenges and driving sustainable growth. This hands-on experience exemplified his commitment to using data as a tool for empowerment and community impact.

As the President of the university’s Business Analytics Club, Raghav has created a thriving environment for collaboration among data enthusiasts. Under his leadership, the club delivered impactful initiatives such as Datathon: Hack Data for Sustainability, the Pioneer Perspectives speaker series featuring industry experts and alumni, and numerous other career development and networking opportunities. His leadership has strengthened the university’s analytics community and inspired his peers to excel in their professional endeavors.

Currently, Raghav is applying his skills at Apexon, where he is working on groundbreaking projects that merge data science and artificial intelligence. These include supply chain optimization to enhance efficiency and decision-making, and the development of GenAI business applications, particularly Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)-based AI tools, to solve complex business challenges. Through these projects, Raghav is contributing to innovative solutions that have a tangible impact.

Outside the world of analytics, Raghav finds balance by hiking and connecting with new people. His love for exploring the outdoors mirrors his curiosity and drive to venture into new frontiers in data science.

“I’m a data engineer with a passion for entrepreneurship and making a difference in the community! I love using data to solve real-world problems, whether it’s helping small businesses, building AI tools, or bringing people together through analytics. With graduation around the corner, I’m excited to keep creating meaningful impact with data.” Raghav shares.

Hanna Khan, an exceptional MSBA candidate at 缅北禁地, East Bay, is already making waves in the field of data analytics and AI-driven solutions. Her journey at CSUEB began with earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Corporate Management, where her passion for data-driven decision-making took root.

Hanna’s professional career is equally impressive. She is currently a BI Data Analyst at Ocean Source Technology and has previously worked as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Emagia and a BI Data Analyst at InnovatiC's. Through these roles, Hanna has honed her expertise in harnessing data to provide actionable insights, streamline operations, and drive strategic outcomes for businesses.

Her achievements go beyond academics and work experience. Hanna recently secured 2nd runner-up in the prestigious TiE Global Hackathon’s Sustainability Track. Reflecting on her team's innovative AI-based solution, Hanna shared:

"We built a machine learning and computer vision solution that automates the sorting process based on PPE type, brand, and material. This solution tackles the core issues of effective segregation, contamination inspection, and process automation, all aimed at reducing human error, minimizing contamination, and cutting costs."

Hanna's commitment to making a positive impact extends to her volunteer work. She dedicates her time to a local community clinic, where she is developing AI solutions to enhance communication between doctors and patients. These tools are designed to deliver health information in multiple languages, improving access to care and fostering better understanding in diverse communities.
